Wednesday Spotlight – Elaine Cantrell

Today’s spotlight shines on Elaine Cantrell, who has written six books. Let’s go through a list of her titles! A New Leaf – Oak Tree Press;Grandfather’s Legacy – All Romance Books; Purple Heart – The Wild Ross Press; The Welcome Inn – Wings Press; The Best Selling Toy Of The Season – Melange Books; Return Engagement – Whiskey Creek Press; A New Dream, Matrimonial Mayhem and The Table in the Window by Astraea Press. WOW! Talk about prolific! Here’s a few of her covers.

When did you start writing, Elaine? And when were you first published?

If we don’t count the story I dictated to my father when I was five, then I’ve been writing eleven years. That story was super good too. It must have been. Daddy laughed the entire time he was writing it down. I was first published in 2004 when I won a writing contest sponsored by Oak Tree Press. I almost didn’t enter, and afterwards I forgot about it until three months later when I saw my name listed first on the short list. After a celebration dance to end all dances, I went on to win the contest and a contract!

Tell us about your current projects!

At present I’m up to my eyeballs in work. I’m doing pre-edits for Never Trust a Pretty Wolf, a romantic suspense novel, and I’ll soon be doing edits for The Sentence, my first inspirational novel, both coming out from Astraea Press. If I get a free minute, I’ll work on a sci/fi romance (although that doesn’t exactly fit what it is.) I guess I’m writing books that cross genres to the point that I can’t say what they are. I’m also in promotion mode for my latest full length release, A New Dream. If you’ve read that book, please consider reviewing it on Amazon and Goodreads!

What are your future plans for your career?

I’d like to improve at the craft of writing, since I wouldn’t mind being on a few bestseller lists. I’d also like to finish my Lovinggood trilogy with Whiskey Creek Press. So far only the first book, Return Engagement, has been published.
